Heart Mummies
A Lifeline Through the Hardest Journeys
From Strangers to Family When faced with the devastating news that our unborn children had life-threatening heart conditions, we were thrown into a world of uncertainty, fear, and endless questions. But in that darkness, we found each other.
We are Louise Hubbard, Justine Ducker, and Danielle Mann, three mums brought together by a diagnosis that changed our lives forever. We call ourselves the Heart Mummies, and our children-Felicity, Florence, Rian, and Ruby-are our Heart Babies.
The Moment Everything Changed
During our 20-week pregnancy scans, we all experienced the same terrifying silence in the room. The moment when excitement turned to fear. Each of us was told there was something wrong with our baby’s heart and was urgently referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
For Louise, this was the second time she had received this earth-shattering news. Having already navigated congenital heart defects (CHD) with her eldest daughter, she decided to share her story publicly-an act that led Justine and Danielle to reach out. What started as messages between worried mums soon became a lifeline.

Strength in Sisterhood
From that moment, we became each other's rock. Through late-night messages, anxious hospital stays, and moments of sheer exhaustion, we always had someone to turn to who truly understood.
We spoke every day, lifting each other up when the fear felt unbearable. We shared advice, hope, and most of all-the unwavering belief that our children would fight through.
The Next Chapter: Giving Back
Our friendship is stronger than ever. But we know that no parent should have to go through this journey alone. That's why we continue to support each other, our families, and other heart parents navigating this same path.
This year, we’re taking on RBC Race for the Kids and other fundraising events for GOSH. Seeing our children run together-something we once feared they’d never be able to do-is proof of how far they’ve come.
