London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024
Our First Official Race for GOSH
The London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 was a huge milestone for us—it was the first time we ran wearing the GOSH bib, representing the hospital that has been a lifeline for Ruby and so many others.
For me, Dan (Ruby’s Dad), this wasn’t just another race. It was a challenge I never thought I’d take on. The idea came after watching my brother-in-law, Jack, run it in 2023 on behalf of GOSH. Inspired by his effort, I signed up for 2024, despite one small problem—I wasn’t a runner.
Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
Signing up was the easy part. Training was another story. I was terrified at first. Running a half marathon felt impossible, and doubt crept in more times than I can count.
But this wasn’t just about me. It was about pushing myself for GOSH, for my daughter, and for all the heart warriors who face far tougher battles.
On race day, I wasn’t alone. I ran alongside Jack and his husband-to-be, AJ, and together, we tackled the 13.1 miles through the heart of London. The energy, the crowd, and the overwhelming support for GOSH made every step worth it.
More Than Just a Run
Crossing that finish line was more than just a personal victory—it was the start of something bigger. This was the event that kick-started our journey into fundraising through running
It showed me that discomfort and doubt are temporary, but the impact of showing up and pushing through is lasting.
Since then, we’ve continued to take on bigger challenges and our fundraising efforts for GOSH and setting up Run with Ruby. What started as a personal challenge has turned into a movement that we hope will inspire others to lace up and run for a cause that changes lives.
